All-Natural Tips for Shiny, Healthy Hair

All-Natural Tips for Shiny, Healthy Hair

Haircare for women can mean a lot of things depending on the type of hair you’re dealing with. With countless products on the market today, there seems to be a product for any type of hair and hair problem, but a quick look at the label will quickly discourage those of us who prefer natural hair care.

Finding products that are safe for us and the planet, and effective at caring for our hair, isn’t easy. The fact is, many of the mainstream products just don’t live up to those standards. Fortunately, there are ways to get shiny, healthy hair naturally. Check out these tips and tricks.

#1 An Avocado Mask for Your Hair

Avocados are not only delicious and nutritious, but when mixed with a few key ingredients, they can help rehydrate hair that has been damaged from colouring and styling products.

Simply combine ½ avocado with 2 tablespoons of raw honey and a preferred oil (olive, coconut, jojoba). Apply to your hair and cover with a towel for an hour, then rinse. The monounsaturated fats, vitamin E, potassium, and magnesium nourish and moisturise the hair and scalp and protect the hair cuticles.

#2 Practice Good Brushing Techniques

The method you use for brushing your hair can damage it, if you aren’t careful. First of all, it’s best to brush your hair when it’s dry. Wet hair is more prone to split ends and can be pulled out from the roots much easier. If your hair tangles easily after a wash or swim, or if you’re short on time for styling, opt for a wide-tooth comb instead of a brush.

Whether using a brush or a comb, start at the ends of your hair and work up to the roots. This method will prevent damage and protect your scalp as well. By starting at the ends and working up a bit further with each stroke, you’re able to catch knots and tangles at a slower speed and work through them a little at a time, as opposed to “ripping” down from the scalp. This helps prevent breakage and pulling.

#3 Consider Taking Supplements

Most everyone knows that eating healthy not only affects internal health but outward appearance and health as well. Supplements like collagen, biotin, and vitamin E promote healthy skin and hair.

Supplements alone aren’t enough to repair damaged hair, but by implementing them into your routine, you’ll be on your way to enjoying youthful skin and shiny, healthy hair.

#4 More Food Treatments for Your Hair

Using a few common ingredients found in your kitchen can boost your hair health and appearance as well. For instance, to deeply moisturise, apply an egg to clean, damp hair and leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing in cool water.

If your hair seems dull or has lots of build-up, consider rinsing your hair with apple cider vinegar twice a week (1:4 ACV and water ratio). The properties in apple cider vinegar can actually help close the hair cuticles, making it look shiny and frizz-free. Many people also swear by a rice water rinse, which makes hair sleek and shiny.

#5 Give Your Scalp a Massage

Practicing self-care is good for our overall well-being, so why not pamper your scalp too? Massaging your scalp twice a week, using an all-natural hair oil will improve blood circulation, promote healthier hair and boost new hair growth.

The Hinu Hair Growth Oil is made of all-natural, quality ingredients including False Daisy Leaf Oil, Black Sesame Seed Oil, Avocado Seed Oil, Green Tea, Aloe Vera, and Peppermint Oil. It is ideal for scalp massages as well as a daily conditioner.

So, what are you going to try for your hair routine? While it can seem like a hassle trying to get chemicals out of your day, it’s a task that’s worth undertaking. Try some of these remedies out for yourself and you’re bound to find a hair care program that works for you.
