A hot spring can provide boiling water, and many countries, like New Zealand and Iceland, have naturally occurring hot pools where people can enjoy the mineral-rich waters.

Cryotherapy, or taking ice baths, can also assist to relieve muscle strain, and many athletes, notably runners, would immerse themselves in freezing water to mitigate the damage or strain caused by activity.
