Celebrate the longevity of healthier hair.
HINU, meaning oil in Māori is a space dedicated to creating slow and intentional remedies, founded by Allie Cameron. Each product has been designed to make the daily hair routine a ritual, to celebrate the longevity of healthier hair.
How it all started
I come from a long line of strong Māori wahine who carried deep resilience, intuition, and grounded wisdom. My Nana taught me her Rongoā. She showed me how simple plants, touch, and presence could hold medicine when guided with intention.
Māori believe that the head is the most tapu, sacred, part of the body and where a strong connection to your mana, your strength, is held.
A few years ago I experienced chronic stress that led to hair loss. Creating this hair growth oil became a way for me to reconnect with my roots, my hair, and myself. Through the ritual of hair oiling I supported my body in healing, my nervous system softened, my stress lowered, and my hair began to return.

Our hair is sacred; it carries the essence of who we are and the mana of those who came before us. It is a taonga, a treasure, that binds us to our whakapapa, our genealogy.
