“I’ve come to realize that maturity is a gift and we can fully embody and celebrate each stage of our journey.”

Adya is a guide, ritualist, and wisdom keeper devoted to supporting women through life’s thresholds with grounded spiritual practice. Drawing from decades of experience, she illuminates the grace of aging, the potency of self-honouring, and the reverence she holds for her hair and daily rituals.

What stories about beauty and age are you ready to release/have released?

The stories about aging that I’ve released is that beauty fades as our bodies change…that we must look a certain way…and I’ve cleared the fear around the new life lines and the streaks of silver. I’ve come to realize that maturity is a gift and we can fully embody and celebrate each stage of our journey.

What does it feel like to honour the current version of you?

It feels like such liberation to honour the current version of me!
There is no energy being leaked into the story that I’m not good as I AM, so there’s more life force to LIVE, create and to enjoy this stage and all the gifts that are here now.

What is your current relationship with your hair? And how has this evolved over time?

My current relationship to my hair is one of great reverence. The silver began to appear as 1 streak at the front of my hairline…and an elder told me it was called a kiss of the moon. Since then I’ve fully embraced the emergence of the silver…and I love that it inspires other women to do the same.

Do you have any hair rituals?

I’ve had hair rituals of oiling throughout my life. I used to solar infuse oils with nettles and rosemary and treat my hair once a week. As a younger mother I didn’t treat my hair as frequently, but as my kids get older I’m creating more space again for these precious rituals.

What does self-care mean to you, and how do you practice it daily?

Self care for me means listening to and honouring my rhythm, and what is needed each day to feel nurtured and supported…a bath, a walk in nature, a moment of silence and stillness…my yoga practice…I’ve learned to listen to my inner space and I honour that call for nurturance when it arises
