November New Moon: The Ouroboros

November New Moon: The Ouroboros

The ouroboros reminds us that every ending feeds a beginning. By consuming its own tail, it becomes both the destroyer and the creator, teaching us that transformation is cyclical and that we must be willing to let parts of ourselves dissolve so that something new can emerge.

"In the cycle of death & rebirth, nothing is ever truly lost; it simply returns to the cycle"

On the 9th of November, the New Moon arrives in the depths of Scorpio, inviting us into a season of death & rebirth. Scorpio reminds us that growth often begins in the places we are afraid to look. Like a snake shedding its skin, we are called to release the habits, patterns and narratives that no longer resonate with the version of ourselves we are becoming.

This evening is a powerful portal for shadow work, the sacred practice of turning inward to explore the parts of ourselves we have hidden, suppressed or struggled to accept. Beneath our reactions and recurring patterns may lie unmet needs and subconscious beliefs that quietly shape the way we move through the world. By meeting these shadows with compassion rather than judgement, we begin to understand what we are holding onto and work towards releasing the stories that no longer resonate.

What to expect:

Intuition may feel heightened, emotions may rise to the surface and the desire to withdraw from the outside world may grow stronger. Scorpio invites us beneath the surface, asking us to sit with uncomfortable truths rather than distract ourselves from them. You may feel more vulnerable, introspective or sensitive to the energies around you, so it is important to listen and allow yourself the space to process what emerges.

What TO do:

  • Introspect & make space for silence
  • Journal everything that is coming up
  • Practise shadow work
  • Nurture your inner circle
  • Nurture & protect your energy
  • Perform a release ritual

What NOT to do:

  • Overstimulate yourself
  • Overextend your energy
  • Overshare
  • Force transformation

Meeting Your Shadow Ritual

Scorpio invites us to look beneath the surface and meet, with compassion and neutrality, the parts of ourselves we may have been avoiding.

Symbolically light a candle to begin this ritual and spend a few minutes recalibrating your energy with the moon. Shadow work invites us to explore the patterns, fears and beliefs that quietly shape our lives. Rather than pushing uncomfortable feelings away, allow yourself to listen to what they may be revealing.

Journal prompts:

  • What patterns keep repeating in my life, and what might they be trying to teach me?
  • What parts of myself do I hide or suppress to feel accepted?
  • What am I holding onto out of fear, familiarity or attachment?
  • Which old narrative about myself am I ready to stop believing?
  • What would it look like to respond to myself with compassion instead of criticism?

As a closing gesture, gently trim a small section of your hair, allowing the physical act to symbolise your willingness to let go of an old narrative and make space for a new beginning. Gather the trimmed strands and safely burn them in a fire-safe bowl as a final act of release.

Across many spiritual traditions, hair carries symbolism connected to vitality, identity & memory. While the idea that hair literally stores emotional energy is a spiritual belief rather than established science, it can serve as a powerful reminder of the stories we carry and the lives we have lived.

Close this ritual by oiling the ends of your hair with a few drops of Hair Growth Oil (ADD LINK) to seal & protect the energies, and when you are ready, blow out the candle to close the portal. Let this be a reminder that you can honour your past without remaining bound to it. Tonight, give yourself permission to change, to soften and to enter this new phase of your life.
