RĀTAPU (Sunday) RITUALS with Cameron Nuttall

Rātapu (Sunday) Rituals is an ongoing series on our Instagram, dedicated to celebrating the significance of self-care, relaxation, and personal time.

Sundays are my sacred day for slowing down, and my morning rituals set the tone for peace and grounding. I start by making my bed and easing into the day with my Hinu silk pillowcase. Spritzed with lavender oil, it’s the perfect way to end and begin my day.

I love listening to vinyls in the morning, and right now, In the Heart of the Moon by Ali Farka Touré and Toumani Diabaté is on repeat. The music helps me reconnect with myself, followed by a short dance and stretch session to wake up my body.

Next, I light incense and sit by my windowsill, journaling while I gaze at the treetops. Writing always clears my mind for the day ahead. No Sunday is complete without a hot drink outside in my garden, and I often read John O’Donohue’s Anam Cara—his reverence for nature brings me so much peace.

Living on Bundjalung land, I make the most of my time outdoors. One of my favourite rituals is oiling my hair and massaging my scalp with the jade scalp stimulator while soaking in the natural beauty around me. The scent of the Hinu hair oil is both calming and rejuvenating, making it the perfect self-care treat.

These simple moments make my Sundays feel heavenly and remind me of the beauty in slowing down.
